About Beech Bluff

If you think Nashville is the only place to visit while you are in Tennessee, you have not been to Beech Bluff. Located on the east-central edge of Madison County, it started as a small community that was used as a summer resort. When a post office was built in 1852, it slowly began pulling in more people. Interestingly, it was also called Homer around its inception, but it derived its official name from the beech trees that could be found growing near the bluff. With the addition of the railroad in the late 1800s, the population seemed to explode overnight. Today, this humble community offers both its residents and tourists tons of things to see and do.

Weather in this small community varies throughout the year. It receives an average of 57 inches of rain and 3 inches of snow each year. With an average of 215 sunny days each year, Beech Bluff has more sunny days than the U.S. average. If you plan on visiting, the best months to do so are May, September, and October due to the pleasant weather. Some months to avoid are January and July because the weather makes visiting pretty uncomfortable.

Activities To Do

Beech Bluff is a small town, but its central location makes it a short drive away from some really fun activities. For example, fans of the outdoors can enjoy a walk through nature at Pinson Mounds State Archaeological Park. This green space covers more than 1,200 acres, and it is home to Native American mounds, including Ozier Mound, the Twin Mounds, and Mound 31. These mounds are sacred because they were used for both burial and ceremonial purposes, so be sure to spend some time admiring all the natural beauty and history that the park has to offer.

Antique shopping is another great activity, especially at Butler’s Antique Mall. With over 15,000 square feet of merchandise ranging from glassware to dolls to jewelry to old toys, and so on, the antique mall offers a variety of merchandise to choose from. The owners offer freshly popped popcorn to their shoppers, so definitely carve out the afternoon for this visit.
